Sharing Experiences with China

The AoA is working with the China National Committee on Ageing (CNCA) http://www.cnca.org.cn to explore and develop possible binational areas of cooperation to strengthen the friendship between our countries and to promote the well-being of our elderly.

The CNCA was established by the People's Republic of China in 1982. It is mandated by the central government to conduct research and studies on the main issues of strategy, policy and planning concerning the aging of populations, and information dissemination; provide consultant services; organize social activities related to aging issues and carry out other work as entrusted by the State Council; and to participate in international exchanges and cooperation.

The AoA and the CNCA have agreed to pursue a number of activities, to include:

  1. exchange, as appropriate, of information concerning policies, legislation, infrastructure and services regarding the elderly;

  2. exchange of publications and related material;

  3. informing each other of relevant national and international conferences concerning the elderly; and

  4. assisting in arranging mutual visits for visiting scholars and professionals in the field of aging. More specifically, AoA and CNCA will work together to support mutual visits of top officials of aging organizations.

  5. The AoA will also, where possible, facilitate linking CNCA with appropriate research institutes;

  6. provide CNCA with information to help it develop its Home Page on the Internet; and

  7. provide CNCA with information about its Sister City Initiative.
