WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) is pleased to announce the selection of six grantees for small grant projects. These grantees will develop and test interventions designed to reach underserved and isolated elders who are victims of or at-risk of elder abuse. Each grantee will receive approximately $5,000 for a 12-month period through the National Center for Elder Abuse (NCEA), which is funded by the AoA.

“Ensuring that we protect and educate older Americans about elder abuse is critical,” said Josefina G. Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging. “These small grant projects will help in reaching older Americans who are disconnected from their communities.”

The following six grantees were selected:

• Cass County Council on Aging; Cassopolis, Michigan
  
  
• Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging; Rutland, Vermont
  
  
• Blackfeet Elder Protection Team; Browning, Montana
  
  
• Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS); Columbus, Ohio
  
  
• Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging; Gainesville, Florida
  
  
• Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly (CARIE); Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
