Older Americans Month 2005

Walk on the Mall

Join the U.S. Administration on Aging as We Celebrate Long-Term Living! During Older Americans Month with a Walk on the National Mall

The Administration on Aging, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will host its fourth physical fitness event on May 4, 2005 in our nation’s capital to kick off the annual celebration of Older Americans month. To promote this year’s theme of “Celebrate Long-Term Living!” area older Americans and the agencies that serve them will join with the Administration on Aging for a 30 minute walk on the National Mall, tools and tips for healthy living, refreshments and more!

Millions of older Americans are living longer, healthier lives. Making positive changes in both food choices and physical activity can help prevent, delay, and even treat many of the leading chronic ailments among older Americans.

If your organization is interested in joining us for a morning of fitness and fun on the National Mall on May 4, 2005, please complete the registration form to receive more information.

Rain or Shine! Indoor activities are planned in the event of poor weather.

Check Out Our Online Planning Guide to Help You Plan a Local Celebrate Long-Term Living! Event

The Administration on Aging encourages organizations and groups around the country to sponsor local Celebrate Long-Term Living! events in your communities. These events should promote this year’s goal of increasing physical activity and healthy lifestyles for older Americans. To help you in setting up your own Celebrate Long-Term Living! event we have provided planning and media materials. The materials are set up in a “Swiss cheese” format which allows you to insert your organizational name, spokespeople, logo, and any other local information that should be highlighted.

We would love to help highlight and promote your event on the AoA website. If you would like your Celebrate Long-Term Living! event posted, please complete the participation form.
