Assistant Secretary for Aging to Address OASIS 25th Anniversary Celebration

Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Aging Josefina G. Carbonell will keynote the OASIS 25th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, October 4, 2007 in St. Louis, Mo.

In addition to congratulating OASIS on its 25th Anniversary, Assistant Secretary Carbonell will address national efforts to help Americans live longer, healthier lives by streamlining access to long-term supports, ensuring high quality care and services, emphasizing prevention as a key to improved longevity, and advancing consumer direction and choice. She will also talk about the importance of establishing partnerships among health and human service entities at the national,state, and local levels to further healthy aging and care for adults as they age. OASIS is a St. Louis-based national organization dedicated to enriching the lives of mature adults through lifelong learning, civic engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles. OASIS has programs in 27 cities that serve 365,000 people age 50 and older.
