HHS Assistant Secretary for Aging Josefina Carbonell will tour St. Ann’s Center for Intergenerational Care and participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new United Community Center (UCC) Latino Geriatric Center and Early Childhood Education Center on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Background
St. Ann’s Center for Intergenerational Care is a community-based day services facility that integrates wellness and day programs for children, frail elderly and persons with disabilities. St. Ann’s also has an Alzheimer’s disease program.
The new UCC Latino Geriatric Center and Early Childhood Education Center will serve elderly with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia as well as pre-school children three years of age. The Latino Geriatric Center will be the first center of its kind dedicated to serving Hispanic elders with symptoms of dementia or diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease. The Center is being built in cooperation with the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Wisconsin, the Medical College of Wisconsin and the UWM School of Architecture.
Josefina G. Carbonell is the longest-serving Assistant Secretary for Aging who heads the U.S. Administration on Aging in Washington, D.C.
