Take Advantage of the Benefits of the Medicare Discount Drug Card

In an initiative that targets Latino low-income seniors and persons with disabilities to educate them on the Medicare-approved discount card program, Josefina G. Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging of the U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) will be keynote speaker at the first of a series of bilingual forums. These forums are co-hosted by the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Denver Housing Authority Denver Health, Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and the Latino/a Research and Policy Center.
Analysis shows that seniors and people with disabilities can expect significant discounts off average retail prices for name brand drugs and even higher discounts on generic drugs. On top of the discounts, low-income beneficiaries can qualify for a $600 credit to pay for prescriptions this year and another $600 for 2005, which could amount to $1,200 in discounts within an 18-month period.
