In celebration of Older Americans Month (May), the City of Canton and Stark County Council on Aging is sponsoring its 28th Annual Stark County Senior Day at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Tuesday, May 18. The fun-filled event for seniors will include lunch, bingo, and door prizes. Randy Rawls, local singer will provide entertainment.
Movin & Grooving Through the Ages, the theme for this year’s
event embodies “Aging Well, Living Well,” the theme established
for Older American’s Month by the U.S. Administration on Aging.
“ Aging Well, Living Well” is a powerful theme that has taken root
in hundreds of programs and activities planned around the country to celebrate
Older American’s Month this year,” said Josefina G. Carbonell, Assistant
Secretary for Aging at the U.S. Administration on Aging. “Senior citizens
are among our greatest treasures, and this year’s theme gives us the opportunity
to celebrate and recognize older Americans who are living longer, healthier,
and more productive lives,” she added.
Josefina G. Carbonell will be a keynote speaker for the event. She will be
joined by Janet Weir Creighton, Mayor of Canton. Robert Mullen, District Director
for Congressman Ralph Regula will serve as Master of Ceremony.
