U.S. Assistant Secretary for Aging to help launch GrandDriver

Josefina G. Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging in the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services will participate and speak
at the official launch of the GrandDriver Program. The Assistant
Secretary will highlight the importance for older drivers to “Get
Around Safe and Sound” in their later years. She will also
present information on transportation funded through Older Americans
Act Programs.
GrandDriver is an education and awareness campaign of the American
Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) to educate
the public about the efforts of age on driving ability and to
encourage drivers to make wise choices as they grow older. The
campaign, focused on the greater D.C. area (including northern
Virginia and southern Maryland) is a combined effort of AAMVA,
the D.C., Maryland and Virginia motor vehicle agencies, the DC
DOT and the Maryland Highway Safety Office in association with
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Department
of Health and Human Services’ Administration on Aging, AARP’s
Driver Safety Program, AAA and the Washington Metro Area Transit
Authority.

The AoA is a Federal agency dedicated to policy development,
