For noninstitutionalized persons aged 65+:
-
96% report that they do have a usual
place to go for medical care.
-
Only 2.5% report that they failed
to obtain needed medical care due to financial barriers
during the past year.

Over 37% report that their health was
excellent or very good.

About 6% reported that they need help
with personal care; this percentage rises to over 19%
of persons aged 85+.

Over 65% reported that they received
an influenza vaccination during the past 12 months and
over 55% reported that they had ever received a pneumococcal
vaccination.

About 24% (of persons 60+) report height/weight
combinations that place them among the obese.
-
26% of persons aged 65-74 and almost
17% of persons 75+ report that they engage in regular
leisure-time physical activity.
-
Only 9% reported that they are current
smokers and only 2% reported excessive alcohol consumption.
-
Only about 2% reported that they had
experienced psychological distress during the past 30
days.
