Discover a Healthy Way to Eat During National Nutrition Month®
Do you know how to develop a healthy way to eat that is based on scientific research? The DASH* eating plan offers key steps to take and is based on recommendations from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005. Research shows that high blood pressure, a condition that affects half of older adults can be prevented and lowered by following the DASH eating plan. This plan features plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other foods that are heart healthy and lower in salt/sodium. The plan also contains additional information on weight loss and physical activity.
Celebrate National Nutrition Month® and get the facts about the DASH eating plan from the HHS National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Order a single copy of the fact sheet, In Brief: Your Guide to Lowering Your Blood Pressure with DASH is free. Click here for your copy. Or view the entire booklet, Your Guide to Lowering Your Blood Pressure with DASH online by clicking here for your PDF download.
NHLBI also has a new science-based In Brief, Your Guide to Physical Activity and Your Heart fact sheet to help adults develop a safe and effective program of physical activity that can be ordered free.
