Spotlight On
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 2006
Breast cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in women in the United States. Every woman is at risk, and this risk increases with age. Breast cancer can usually be successfully treated when found early through early detection. This October, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, make time for your breast health.
Mammography is the single most effective method of early detection of breast cancer. Significant progress has been made in mammography technology that continues to help physicians diagnose breast cancer in its early stages. This makes it important for women to take charge of their health by following recommendations for an annual mammogram recommended for women over 40.
Did you know that all women with Medicare age 40 and older can get a screening mammogram every 12 months? For more information visit: http://www.medicare.gov/health/mammography.asp.
