Planning ahead for long-term care means more control over your future

At least 70% of people over age 65 will require some long-term care services at some point in their lives. Contrary to what many people believe, Medicare and private health insurance programs do not pay for the majority of long-term care services that most people need, such as help bathing or getting dressed. Planning is essential for you to be able to get the care you might need.

Planning ahead helps you understand what service options are available, what special conditions may apply, and how much long-term care will cost. Planning ahead means less emotional and financial stress on you and your family and, most importantly, it can help ensure greater independence should you need care.
