A Family in Crisis: Legal Responses and Alternatives

Description
A 90-minute video of an interactive teleconference. The format presents a son, "Ben", who assumes responsibility for his father's dementia, his mother's frailty, and a younger brother with developmental disabilities. Attorneys from the Montana Office on Aging and the Montana Advocacy Program respond to Ben's situation. Various legal options are presented including conservator, power of attorney, and legal guardianship.

Memory Loss Among American Indians: The Caregiving Experience

Description
A 15-minute video, with accompanying handbook, that interviews Dr. J. Neil Henderson of the Suncoast Center of Gerontology, University of South Florida, Tampa; and two Native American women who are caregivers for their mothers. The video provides facts about the disease process and the influence of the disease on family caregivers. It was designed to assist outreach workers, such as the Community Health Representative, and other human service providers to understand dementia and be aware of the needs of family caregivers.
