The Regional Office of the Administration on Aging serves as the focal point for the development, coordination, and administration of Older Americans Act programs within HHS Region VIII.
The Regional Office serves as the effective and visible advocate for the elderly to Federal agencies in our geographic jurisdiction to ensure the rights and entitlements of the elderly; advise, consult, and cooperate with each Federal agency proposing or administering programs or services related to the aging; coordinate and assist in the planning and development by public (including Federal, State., Tribal, and local agencies) and private organizations of comprehensive and coordinated services and opportunities for older individuals in each community of the nation; conduct active public education of officials and citizens and the aged to ensure broad understanding of the needs and capabilities of the aged.
The Regional Office facilitates interagency cooperation at the Federal, Regional, State, and Tribal levels to enhance resources and assistance available to the elderly.
Founded in 1981, the Community Resource Center, Inc. (CRC), is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization which is committed to the principle of grassroots participatory democracy. CRC serves as a leader and a catalyst by inspiring and educating individuals and organizations to take action to create positive social, economic, and community change, in order to foster a more just society.
CRC is recognized for its expertise in providing community organizing and development, leadership development training, technical assistance, and consultation to community-based organizations and local government units throughout Colorado and across the country. Over the past 15 years, CRC has worked with over 3,000 organizations in the areas of fundraising, organizational development, and strategic
planning.The Community Resource Center has developed a reputation for tackling the difficult issues with its "hands on," practical approach to organizational and community problem-solving, relying on the strong belief that most resources already exist within an organization or community to successfully address issues and create a vision for the future. The major leadership development task becomes one of empowerment - i.e., training, motivating, organizing, energizing, mobilizing, focusing, supporting, and leveraging resources - to stimulate grassroots democracy and bring about solutions to problems.
